Mild symptoms may not need treatment. Over-the-counter antihistamines are usually prescribed to relieve the swelling. Inhaler medicines help open up the airways. Drug-induced angioedema needs use of alternative medications.

For severe cases, may be prescribed corticosteroids to reduce swelling and itching. If the allergens are known, they must be avoided.
