There is a good chance of a cure if
it is diagnosed and treated at an early stage. One important cause for what
mouth cancer cannot be spotted early is because most patients consult dentists
only. Unfortunately, in the medical practice, dentists are not always trained in
oncology. Therefore, suspicious lumps or abnormalities in oral tissues do not
receive the appropriate care and may go unnoticed.
Treatment options depend of several
factors as location and stage of the cancer and may include:
- Surgery.
- Chemotherapy
- Radiotherapy
- Biological therapy (monoclonal
antibodies)
These methods are frequently used
combined.
